Classes

Signal Ready Comms, LLC intends to conduct classes on several subjects; both in a group class session and also private consultations through Zoom meetings or Brave Talk for those without Zoom. The group in-person classes will take place at a central location in various regions to be determined in the future and class sizes could be a small private group of five to ten people, or large groups open to anyone. The online consultations could be one-on-one individual sessions or a small group such as family or friends—preferably five people or less.

Emergency Communications 101 (Skill level: Anyone unlicensed or licensed, all levels.)

This class will teach about the different methods of communications available including licensed and unlicensed technology, the practical uses for each, how to deploy each method, and realistic expectations for use and limitations. Students will learn and build at least the frame work if not a complete emergency communications plan. Worksheets, and reference sheets will be provided during online sessions and in-person will also receive weather resistant planning cards.

GMRS Communications (Skill level: New or Currently GMRS Licensees.)

This class covers the basics to the General Mobile Radio Service including simplex and repeater communications, realistic uses and range, channel allocations and uses, antenna placements and use, configurations for handheld, mobile, and base stations. One of our goals is to help you determine what a family emergency plan using GMRS looks like for you. We will also teach you how to construct antennas for use on the GMRS band. In in-person classes, students will make a Slim Jim antenna to keep.

Beyond The Technician Exam (Skill level: New or Inexperienced Technician Licensees)

This class is for those that passed the technician license exam and wonder what is next. With the technician exam really glossing over all the possibilities that new licensees can do, we thought you may want to know. We cover the usual basics like simplex and repeater use, but then we talk about APRS, slow-scan tv, digital voice, data and packet transmissions, direction finding, weak signal, EmComms, and more. Students build a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna to keep as well.

We are still setting up our services and online store. Please sign up to get an email when we fully open soon. Thank You
